“We all know that staying fit is important, especially with health and fitness top of mind as we fight against COVID-19,” said Retro Fitness of Kenvil owner Deborah Craffen. “With gyms across the country closing or open at limited capacities, health clubs such as Retro Fitness are pivoting to offer additional services to ensure that members are focused on staying healthy and fit during this most unprecedented time.”
Those who join for 15 cents at the “ultimate” membership get to bring a guest every time they come workout and they can go to any Retro Fitness location (and bring a guest) and use all the club’s amenities.
Retro Fitness of Kenvil, at 659 Route 46 in Kenvil, is open seven days a week (Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.)

The club also offers group classes along with tanning and child-sitting (members must sign up online or in the club for classes and child sitting).
Retro Fitness in Kenvil is taking extensive measures to protect the health of its members and staff. Every person who enters must wear a mask, have their temperature taken and fill out a health screening questionnaire (either on their phone or on paper) before working out.
The gym has a cleaning station near the entrance where members can grab a spray bottle with disinfectant and paper towels if they want. Members can use lockers to store their bags and belongings, but showers are not available.
Every other piece of cardio equipment (treadmills, steppers, ellipticals) has a safe distancing sign.
Staff members are trained in all the safety protocols and routinely monitor members for proper mask wearing and make announcements throughout the day to remind members to social distance and wear their masks properly.
“Since we opened five years ago, we always offered disposable disinfectant wipe dispensers and disinfectant spray bottles with paper towel dispensers throughout the gym and have added more,” said Craffen.
She noted the facility is also running a special personal training package for $99 for three, 1-ne-hour sessions for members and $149 for non-members.
