U.S. Rep. and “Democratic socialist” Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York recently thanked the Capitol Police for their hard work during the Jan. 6 insurrection.
What I find laughable about her speech on the House floor is that as recently as last year, the congresswoman was calling for the police to be defunded.
To make matters worse, her calls to defund the police occurred at a time when murder rates and acts of gun violence in New York City were going up at alarming rates during the pandemic and right after the implementation of bail reform and the dismantling of an anti-crime unit by Mayor Bill De Blasio.
I’m sure many of Ocasio-Cortez’s constituents were negatively impacted by the increase in crime, yet, it took her own life being endangered by right-wing insurrectionists for her to see the value of the hard-working men and women in blue.
One must wonder whether “AOC” believes her life is more important than the lives of her constituents, based on this newfound admiration for the profession she and her fellow progressives have alienated for months.

Save low gasoline prices and energy jobs
Return with us now to those thrilling days when we were robbed by the gas pump. The Democrats, with their masked men, are plunging us toward higher prices to ride in our favorite gasoline-powered automobile.
Those trips such as food shopping, and doctor and dentist visits are apparently considered unnecessary. With a stroke of his pen, Joe Biden, the “jobs president,” has taken actions that will minimize petroleum industry employment.
Those masked bandits of D.C. will tax, tax, tax, then laugh while you cry. Watch closely as your home heating bill climbs and a trip to the market will see food prices go up.
The inflation rate will soar because of the creeps in Congress and the White House. I wonder, if and when Vice President Kamala Harris is elevated to the top spot in the White House, will Biden leave her the keys to the front door?
Just trying to find the humor in this.
