STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — I hate my pillows.
I’m a middle-aged dentist with increasingly more aches and pains; still, I have not found a suitable pillow to rest my weary noggin at night. And during the day, for my power nap. That is, until I was gifted a Honeydew pillow. No, this is not a paid advertisement. I just want to share the joy that is, to me, the perfect pillow. Maybe more people will get better sleep at night and be less cranky during the day.
For decades, I have endured the ubiquitous, fluffy down pillows that have enticed me in stores or online. They looked so promising with their puffy shape and oversized dimensions. Invariably, after a couple of weeks, they deflated faster than you can say Tom Brady.
Sure, I’d punch them and try to re-fluff, half-asleep, in the middle of the night, sometimes folding in half or rolling it into a ball (from which I’d slide off and/or would give me a crick in my neck), only for groggy me to find them strewn on the floor at daybreak.
I have tried memory foam pillows, but after a precious few promising nights’ sleep, they’d become absent minded and lose their memory, on how to support my above-average-sized head. After a few weeks, they’d be flat as a pancake, too. No support. No REM sleep. No dice.

Some of my current pillows are gigantic (think: body-pillow) and others are too small (but admittedly perfect for balancing my cereal bowl when I watch “Chef’s Table” or “Grace and Frankie” before bed). The Honeydew is well-thought-out and well-constructed.
Plus — and paramount to my personal sleeping comfort — it feels nice and cool to the touch. Ahhhhhh. I Googled it and learned why. Apparently it is made of natural materials and “CertiPUR-US Certified Copper Infused Memory Foam for The Best Cooling Available” and “Oeko-Tex Level 100 Certified for Baby Safe/Harmless for Humans.” I don’t know what that means, but I do know I enjoy it.
